So what is frostwire anyway?
FrostWire is a peer-to-peer file sharing program for the Gnutella and BitTorrent protocols. FrostWire is written in Java, and is a fork of LimeWire
Is frostwire safer than limewire?
Limewire is illegal, Frostwire isn’t. Frostwire is a lot better than Limewire, but they both use the Gnutella network. Searches won’t be any different.
The guys over at Frostwire originally designed Limewire, but it’s now managed by a different company. Frostwire has been updated a lot more though, and it isn’t illegally sold.

This is a great program and keeps getting better. I have been using Frostwire for a few years now and have yet to download a virus. Just have to pay attention to what yo click on before you download. All I download are mp3′s so it works for me. No hijacking or any other side effects that people write about. Best thing, it’s open source.

Works great for me on both Ubuntu 9.10 and Windows 7 64-bit! I’ve had no problems and during installation I UNTICKED the adware (i.e. toolbar, homepage, etc.) and none of that was installed. This excellent open source program should replace LimeWire totally in my opinion.Highly recommended, full score!
Warning – even if you opt out of all the Ask com “extras” – the installer will hijack your browser and set Ask com as your default home page. And who knows what else.
