Yeah so anyway, last night i finally get to sit down on my computer for like 30 minutes of wow (that’s world of warcraft, for those of you with dirty minds… ) time and of course there is a new patch out, again. I could have sworn I had already downloaded this patch, but anyway who am i to argue with the patching system.

And it gets too around 70% and goes, you have a corrupt wow.exe please run the fix / repair tool or something like that. So i run the dam repair tool, which is located right smack in your wow directory for those that are having trouble locating it, just go Windows Key + R, and type in there c:\world of warcraft\repair.exe (if thats where your wow is installed anyway, on C and in World of warcraft otherwize just replace those locations and it should be cool…)

So then another 20 minutes later after doing the file check and reset, it tells me my stuff is all cool and to go ahead and patch again, well it didn’t tell me to patch but i assumed it was cool to go try again. Anyway, 70% again and the same error. Searched Google for 3.3.3 patch errors, nothing interesting came up on there, so i tried copying over an older wow.exe from a backup, still no good, it just decided to download an even older patch and then error again.

So after all that about 40 minutes later i have come to the annoying realisation that i have to download the whole client again, as the last time i got a wow disc was for the latest expansion so that would be a few gig of patches again anyway. So back to the wow site to do a full reinstall! 7.5 gig later, just left the pc to run over night to finish the download and when i got up in the morning it was only at around 85% so still 15% to go tonight if the resume download goes to plan. Crosses fingers…

Then i have to find all my mods again, the ones i actually still use anyway, and redo the whole UI. Dam it! So much effort, and I’m going away for the weekend so i guess that i may be able to have even 5 minutes of play time by the time i have finished re-configuring and setting up downloading the mods. Hope that i don’t get another patch error, I guess it could have been caused by my 64 bit windows? anyone heard of that happening or something, eh idk. Will see how it goes tonight i spose.

Good fun anyway, dam wow patches randomly failing, it wasn’t like it was even a big patch i think it was only about 3 meg or something.
