An airport to the N of Lady Robinsons Beach and about 3 km SW of Mascot.
Origin
Named after Sir Charles Edward Kingsford Smith (9.2.1897 - 1935) the Australian aviator. In 1916 he joined the Royal Flying Corps and was awarded the MC. Other notable achievements included his 1928 flight from California to Brisbane the 1929 and 1931 flights to England and his solo flight from England to Australia in 1933. (ABD)
