A long-standing name: Maule a river of N.S.W. situated in the district of Liverpool Plains; it flows into the River Nammoy-Wells Gaz. 1848.p.255.
Description
A rural area on the northside of Maules Creek extending north for about 1 km and east west for about 5 km its centre is about the junction of Horsearm Creek and Middle Creek. Boundaries within the Narrabri Council area shown on map GNB3792.

Named February 24 1832 by Major Mitchell after Colonel Landerdale Maule. (Reed1985)
