History
Name submitted by Kempsey Councils Aboriginal Liaison Committee - a group of local Aboriginal people.
Description
A reserve on the southern side of Dangar Street West Kempsey. It is partly bounded on the west by Tozer and Dudley streets and on the east by Sea Street.
Meaning
A letter was sent to the Djigay Education Centre asking if `Wigay` or `Djigay` is the correct spelling and if it has any meaning.
Origin
Aboriginal. This reserve was a former landfill site which was converted to parkland and includes native Aboriginal food trees.
